Yeasayer / Washed Out @ FSU

Another free show that came through town within the last few months was Yeasayer‘s performance at FSU’s Ogglesby Union. It was outdoors, and T-Town temperate. Union Productions (school thing) put it all together. They played with another band from Georgia called Washed Out.

Washed Out is damn good. Check out their myspace, there are a few good jams on there, esp. “Feel It All Around.” Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of their performance, which was in my opinion better than that of Yeasayer.

Yeasayer has been playing somewhat repetitively in my car for the past few months. Their first album, All Hour Cymbals, beats around the “freak-folk” bush. Lots of Native American-ish elements, vocal harmonies, mumbled vocals, all done pretty tastefully. Their latest release, Odd Blood, has gotten a lot of attention from Indie critics. They fused their old style with strangely nostalgic electronic elements.

Here, I mainly refer to the album’s single “O.N.E.”

Here’s a really really strange one…
I in no way condone the costume work in this music video.

I don’t know how to feel about it anymore. They have another video starring actress Kirsten Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Couple’s Retreat, When In Rome), and a blood-spewing puppet. Check it out here.

Here are some pictures from the set. They did a good show.

………… . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I just looked at the pictures from the set. They all suck.

Talk about a waste of a post. But I’m not gonna not do it, I just wrote all that. God damn it.

I’m sorry.
