Surfer Blood + the drums @ FSU

Hey everybody it’s samlang

I haven’t updated in a LOOOONG time. Luckily Riley and Marco have posted a few times and made up for any possible absence of interest.

I’m kindastonedanddrunktoo. That’s my indian name.

Living in Tallahassee has been pretty chill. Of course, there are a lot of free shows. I’ve only been out to a few but in the next few posts I’m going to put up some pictures from them. STARTING NOW.

Luckily enough, the first post I have is on the show that Surfer Blood played with The Drums and The Young Friends (NY). It was on FSU campus, 9/21.

Before I even talk about the show:

…Anyway.

The show was at FSU’s Club Down Under, this badass little club I played at once with Totem Pole. I love this place. They treat touring bands really well. Lots of food. Like a PTA meeting’s worth of hors d’œuvres for each band.

Speaking of Totem Pole, Kevin Williams called me that morning and told me about this show. I had no idea. Then he said that he was the new bassist for Surfer Blood, and had been playing with them for a few dates.

So I was excited.

I walked in like two hours or so after the doors opened and the place was packed. The Young Friends were just about to finish their set. I was rollin with quite the crew.

Yours truly.

My girlfriend Laura’s beautiful head of hair.

Gregor’s beer-d.

The enigmatic Riley Content.

DJ QUAP

The Dankness Himself.

AND TI TI.

It was like the goddamn VMAs. So many celebrities.

And check out Surfer Blood’s tour bus.

Shit was big. I’m not posting any pictures from the inside but I can assure you our boys are traveling in comfort.

Back inside, The Drums were rocking it. To me, they sound a lot like older 1980s twee pop from Europe, of course with a mix of fresh elements. If you’re curious in how they sounded, you should listen to them. This is how they looked.

^^ That last one is badass. Hahaha. ^^

As always, Surfer Blood rocked the house very tastefully. You might be able to tell from those pictures. Keep makin’ us proud, Surfer Blood.

And now, I must sign off.
