This passed Sunday our associated not-for-profit project, The Corbin Foundation for Arts and Music, held an event at the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center in downtown West Palm Beach. The event was a benefit hosted by Chase Corbin himself.
Starting off the event was a very entertaining theatrical monologue on “the inner baby within,” by actor Waldo Mayo. He was followed by a jazz piano solo performance from Shit Ton of Funk’s own Tom Wierzbicki. Tom’s set closed with an abbreviated performance of The Killer Wheezy, featuring Sam Lang (me!) and Marco Topic (also of STOF) on drums and keyboard. After Tom finished, there was a short intermission. Then the show opened back up with 3 songs from the prolific Oboist, John Weisberg, and closed with a short set of solo classical piano pieces from Marco Topic.
While there were only five performers throughout the entire presentation, the work of several visual artists was showcased in the front lobby. Works from all members of the Wilmoth Family (Jeremy, Josh, and Leslie), Deth Gunz Tattoo’s J. Rodriguez, and our own Andrew Brown. as well as others.
In the end, the event was a valuable presentation of what the arts community in Palm Beach County has to offer. The foundation received generous donations on that day, but is in need of any help it can get. Please keep your eyes and ears open in regards to the next event, if you would like to attend. We will do our best to keep everything up to date here.
